2 days Bwindi gorilla trekking safari from Kigali allows visitors with limited time to visit Uganda to track the rare mountain gorillas in the wild. Given the location of Bwindi, your gorilla trip will begin from Kigali instead of Kampala or Entebbe. Traveling from Kigali to Bwindi is a short distance drive of 4-5 hours and you cross from Katuna or Chanika border, unlike if you began from Kampala approximately 8-9 hours’ drive.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one of Africa’s premier mountain gorilla trekking destinations. Itinerary
You will meet a driver guide after breakfast at the hotel in Kigali, after, briefing about the entire trip will follow. After, begin your journey to Bwindi with Kigali city tour and you will be visiting historical sites especially Kigali genocide center, craft shops, the local markets and then cross to Kabale via Katuna border or Kisoro via Chanika border.
Driving time between Kigali and Bwindi is about 4-5 hours and you will be using a 4×4 drive vehicle and bottled drinking water will be provided. Enjoy the jaw-dropping view of Rwanda and Uganda landscape en-route. You will check in at the lodge you booked earlier, relax while enjoying the refreshing air from Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
Day two is a special day to trek through the dense rainforest of Bwindi to see mountain gorillas in the wild. First, you will be briefed about guidelines for gorilla tracking and after, proceed for actual visit to observe daily behaviors of these rare species. The time to be spent looking for a family of mountain gorillas assigned to you can’t be predicted, but it usually lasts for 2-6 hours and we recommend that you carry some snacks, bottled water.
Once a family of mountain gorillas assigned to you is found, you will have maximum of 1 hour to enjoy a face-to-face encounter. Photo taking will be a must-do while with gorillas and after, return to check out of the accommodation, then board your 4×4 vehicle to return to Kigali capital.
