3 days Rwanda gorilla trek begins and ends in Kigali capital city one of the modern cities Africa boasts of. This package includes mountain gorilla trekking experience in Volcanoes National Park, located in Ruhengeri region, Northwestern Rwanda. The park was founded in 1925 and it is one of the oldest protected areas on African continent, occupying a compact area measuring up to 160sq.kms.
Within Volcanoes National Park, there are more than mountain gorillas to see. The park supports other unique species of animals including the endangered golden monkeys, forest elephants, buffaloes, 200 bird species, five Virunga Volcanoes (Sabyinyo, Muhabura volcano, Gahinga, Karisimbi and Bisoke volcanoes), floral species and many others. Your gorilla trekking holiday combines other activities like Kigali city tour and community/cultural walk at Iby’Iwacu village.

Itinerary
Meet and greet your driver guide from Rwanda, after, get picture of what your safari to Volcanoes National Park is all about. The driver guide will then drive you through the charming Kigali city to visit the Kigali genocide centre, the local market full of freshly harvested fruits, craft centers etc. The city tour takes a short time, then you have lunch and next will be transferring to Volcanoes National Park 2-3 hours from Kigali.

Volcanoes National Park guided gorilla trekking to see mountain gorillas starts early after breakfast at the pre-booked lodge. Learn how you should behave or not to behave while in the forest searching for a gorilla family or when interacting with it. At the park offices, the park official will also assign gorilla families and each will have 8 visitors to be led by one park guide.
12 gorilla families exist in Ruhengeri Volcanoes NP, and tracking them takes from 2-6 hours and this covers one hour of close encounter, photography. After you have had great time exploring about the mountain gorillas, walk back to the lodge to relax. In the evening, you can have ultimate relaxation or opt for cultural walk to visit the Iby’Iwacu cultural village.

At leisure, enjoy a hefty breakfast, then check out of the gorilla safari lodge in Rwanda’s Volcanoes NP. You will be transferred to Kigali, do some shopping and later, drop off at the airport ready to fly back home or to your next destination
