Volcanoes National Park is positioned in Ruhengeri region, the Northwestern Rwanda also a home to golden monkeys, 5 Virunga Volcanoes.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Tour Kigali capital city & transfer to Volcanoes N/Park Ruhengeri
Pick up by an experienced Rwanda driver guide will be done early upon your arrival at Kigali Airport (KGL) or at the hotel. With early pick up, get briefed on the what to expect on your entire safari. Proceed for a 2 hours’ city tour in Kigali after briefing, and expect to visit the historical sites like Kigali genocide centre (explore more about the 1994 Rwanda genocide), local markets, former presidential palace and more.
Next, you will settle at the hotel in Kigali to enjoy a leisurely lunch. After, the driver guide will transfer you to Ruhengeri for evening relaxation, overnight stay at the lodge in Volcanoes National Park. En-route, you will be astonished by the breathtaking rolling hills and beautiful surrounding.
Day 2: 1st mountain gorilla trekking experience, cultural tour Iby’Iwacu village
The first gorilla trekking experience starts with briefing about guidelines and allocation of mountain gorilla families at Kinigi. This will be performed by the park official and Volcanoes NP is comprised of about 12 habituated mountain gorilla groups, each will be visited by maximum of 8 tourists. All Rwanda gorilla treks will be led by an experienced park guide and actual trekking starts at 8:00am lasting for 2-6 hours.
Observing the daily behaviors of the rare mountain gorillas will be strictly one hour and you will also take as many pictures as you. After, return to the accommodation and be served lunch, chill, share your experiences for the day then you will transfer to Iby’Iwacu village. At Iby’Iwacu cultural village, you will have a bit of Rwandese distinct cultures, traditions accompanied by great entertainment.
Day 3: 2nd mountain gorilla trekking adventure & tour the Twin Lakes
Wake up early, then connect to Kinigi once again for another phase of briefing about gorilla trekking rules, allocation of gorilla families and park guides. At 8:00am, briefing will be done and actual trekking begins, lasting for 2-6 hours inclusive of 1 hour of magical encounter. Once you return from seeing mountain gorillas, you will have lunch and after, the next tour will be at the Twin Lakes, Lake Ruhondo and Burera.
Day 4: Return to Kigali for departure
Enjoy a hefty breakfast, after, check out of accommodation facilities and proceed back to Kigali. In case you didn’t tour Kigali, you will be taken through this modern city visit the Kigali genocide sites and others, then settle for lunch before departing back home at Kigali airport.
